President Donald Trump and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are both facing a similar situation with upcoming elections.
As I’m sure you’re well aware, President Trump was impeached last week by the U.S. House of Representatives. Both counts against the President are not criminal and would never be made criminal by the congress lest the whole gang would be put in prison!
The House decides by investigation and a majority vote if the President has committed an impeachable act. It then sends the Articles of Impeachment outlining the alleged wrong-doing to the Senate.
The Senate decides whether the President should be removed from office via a two-thirds majority vote. Historically, the Senate has acquitted the serving President and left him in place.
Impeachment is very rare. And that this impeachment is taking place less than a year before the 2020 election, has many people seeing it as an attempt to spoil Trump’s re-election chances.
In Israel, there’s a similar situation. Last month Prime Minister Netanyahu was indicted on charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust. The felonious charges against him say he tried to influence a newspaper for favorable reporting on his campaign and administration. The trial is not set until April, 2020 or later.
However, after two failed attempts to form a government, Netanyahu did agree to a party primary so Likud could choose a new leader. That primary is taking place now, although few experts expect Netanyahu’s challenger, Gideon Sa’ar, to get more than 30 percent of the vote.
But this week a new wrinkle developed. There was a petition filed with Israel’s High Court of Justice. The petition asks the judges to rule if a person under indictment can legally run for office.
A negative ruling will mean that Netanyahu won’t be able to run in the March 2 general election. It will also mean the Likud party will need to turn to Gideon Sa’ar after all, or find another new candidate.
As with Trump, some people are viewing the petition as an attempt to get Netanyahu out of the election – and possibly politics entirely.
The Battle Over Jerusalem
Question: Who are the two most powerful world leaders that support Israel’s right to Jerusalem?
Answer: President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. And both facing a vicious attempt of lies to have them removed from office while both face upcoming elections.
Satan has rolled out his playbook to have these two leaders removed. In my view, the two political battles in America and Israel are related and part of the spiritual, end-time battle being waged by Satan with the ultimate prize being control of Jerusalem.
Why is Jerusalem such a Flash-Point?
Satan wants Jerusalem to prevent Jesus from reigning there as King of Kings. This is one of the most significant battlefronts in the Spirit today; it will manifest in fullness at the end of the Tribulation in the battle over Jerusalem we call the Battle of Armageddon, and will be ended by Jesus when He returns to reign from Jerusalem as King over the whole earth.
By going after Trump and Netanyahu at the same time, Satan is attempting to better position himself for the prize of Jerusalem!
Satan is getting desperate which means he knows his time is short! Jesus is coming soon!!!
The Impact on Israel
There have been a few opinion pieces that have asked what impact Trump’s impeachment will have on Israel. It is very unlikely the Senate will remove Trump from office.
Netanyahu’s situation will have a much greater impact on the Jewish State. He has been Prime Minister since 2009, and he’s been involved in Israel’s politics even longer, serving as Prime Minister from 1996-1999.
Having a new Prime Minister would be a large change for Israel no matter what. If Netanyahu is prevented from running again or forced out of politics entirely, it will cause a massive shift in Israel’s political landscape.
It might also lead to major danger.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has called the indictment an “attempted coup.” If enough Israelis feel the same way, it could lead to wide-spread bitterness, resentment, anger and greater political division.
With enemies on nearly every border, Israel can’t afford to be divided against itself.
That’s why it’s more important than ever to stand with Israel.
