President Donald Trump continues his maximum pressure campaign on Iran; Claims Iran wanted the US to drop all sanctions before negotiating; Rouhani: It was up for debate what sanctions will be lifted and they had said clearly that we will lift all sanctions.

As tensions continue to escalate between the United States and Iran, President Trump took to Twitter on Friday to reaffirm his stance in dealing with the number one sponsor of terror in the world.

Iranian President Rouhani claimed that the US was willing to lift all sanctions when he stated, “It was up for debate what sanctions will be lifted and they had said clearly that we will lift all sanctions.” This is a common reoccurrence from Iranian leadership.

Their tact is to make statements that the world will interpret as a sign of weakness coming from other nations. Iran has been showing their true colors for some time now. In fact, they’ve been exposed to the point where even the Europeans are becoming reluctant to help.

Additionally, Rouhani added. “This action wasn’t in a manner that was acceptable, meaning that in the atmosphere of sanctions and the existence of sanctions and the toxic atmosphere of maximum pressure, even if we want to negotiate with the Americans in the 5+1 framework, no one can predict what the end and result of this negotiation will be.”

Trump quickly responded to his remarks, tweeting, “Iran wanted me to lift the sanctions imposed on them in order to meet. I said, of course, NO!”

Maximum pressure is the only way to deal with Iran. Officials from outside the US expect the White House to continue their maximum pressure campaign.
