Because He Lives
He Is The First Fruits of Our Resurrection

3/29/24 By Tim Buck

Beloved Friends and Child of the King:

In ancient Israel, as the days of winter gave way to spring, there was great rejoicing as the first crop of the season emerged from the ground.

Typically, sheaves of barley were the firstfruits – and they were the guarantee that more would soon rise from the earth.

Using this metaphor, the apostle Paul wrote of Jesus in regard to His resurrection:

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that sleep. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
1 Corinthians 15:20-23

The wonderful truth for believers is this:

Because Jesus arose from the grave, we too shall live! In Him, we have the absolute assurance that when He returns in the Rapture, all the dead in Christ will return with Him and be resurrected to life everlasting and all the living saints will be transformed in a moment and in the twinkling of an eye! Then the entire church shall ascend together with Christ to heaven! Because He lives, we shall live with life everlasting!

Beloved friend, we live in a time of great upheaval as the world rockets through the last days and teeters on the edge of eternity.

Morality in America is declining at an alarming rate. Anger and resentment toward those who hold to a Judeo-Christian ethic is growing, and Bible-believing Christians will be increasingly targeted for standing against the rising tide of moral depravity.

The level of political contentiousness and hostility in the U.S. will be unprecedented in the coming months with the Presidential Election further fracturing the widening rift that divides our nation. I believe it’s only a matter of time before these fault lines give way to a geo-political earthquake of a size and magnitude we’ve not seen before. How and when that occurs, I do not know; but I don’t think it’s far off.

The Middle East is a powder keg. Israel is at war, fighting for its very survival.

Yet Biden is abandoning our ally. He’s drawn a “red line” – impeding Israel’s ability to defend its citizens. Each decision he makes further undermines our ally and makes Israel weaker. The U.N. is waging lawfare on Israel as Israel’s enemies unite to eradicate her.

No one but our Father in Heaven knows with certainty what tomorrow will bring.

But in this special resurrection weekend – as faithful followers of Jesus Christ – may we sing this song of praise to our Lord with steadfast confidence:

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future – and life is worth the living just because He lives!”
